Click the following "Movies" link to download the "Movies" SQL Server database and related image files; then create the Project 8 application as follows:
- Copy the "Movies" SQL Server database into the "App_Data" folder
- From the "Project" menu add the "Movies" SQL Server database as an "Existing Item" into the website project (if you do not do this, you will not be able to see the database in your project in "Solution Explorer" or "Server Explorer")
- At the top of the page a banner image (having something to do with movies or movie stars)
- A SqlDataSource linked to the MovieTitle, YearMade, Stars, Rating and MovieType fields in the "Movie" table (use the "Advanced" option to include the INSERT, UPDATE and DELETE commands)
- A GridView with the following elements:
- Set its DataSource property to the preceding SqlDataSource
- Format it using the AutoFormat command
- Enable paging, sorting and editing, but not deleting (remember to add the UPDATE command to the SqlDataSource—see above)
- Set the PageSize property to small enough a value so that there are at least three (3) pages to demonstrate paging
Complete all instructions above for a maximum grade of 10 out of 10 points
For reduced credit you may eliminate either or both of the follow:
- Eliminate editing and the SQL UPDATE command for a reduction of 1 point
- Eliminate paging and sorting for a reduction of ½ point
The completed project, a ZIP file that contains the folder with all files for the website, is due to Prof. Struck as an attachment to a Brightspace dropbox by 11:59 p.m. on the date specified in the course outline.
